The meditative aspects of nature painting is an important part of my practice. Painting allows you to slow down and connect more deeply with the environment. Whenever I am in the natural environment I pay close attention to what is around me which helps in the act of creating art as well as helping you develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
- Painting or sketching outdoors gives an immediate impression of your surroundings
- Painting makes me pay attention so I become totally immersed in the process
- Trying to adapt to the needs of the work is an important part of the process
- Learning to trust my judgement on what needs to be done
