Still life painting has been a favourite for centuries. Artists have always enjoyed the chance to experiment with composition, colour and creativity that still life offers. For our acrylic workshop on 6 July, I thought we could paint a still life. This would allow us to really get into the world of colour and composition, which will help us create a lively and engaging picture.

My next studio workshop

We’ll start by adding layers of value, from dark to light, to really bring out the shadows and highlights and create depth. Next, we’ll focus on crisp details and blending to give the texture a realistic feel. Finally, we’ll add bold, luminous highlights to give the painting some dimension. Plus, we’ll explore how colour can really bringfor more the painting to life.
